Guest guest
Okay, So I've asked a lot of questions on here, and received WONDERFUL feedback - so thank you all!!! However as I'm looking over the Intro Diet, and then the different stages on Pecanbread.com, my brain is just having trouble wrapping itself around this. First of all, my family will be doing Pecanbread's Dairy Free ASD Diet, along with the Candida Diet. We also are allergic to eggs, so will be postponing eating those rather than in the Intro. With that said, I'm confused on what to eat and when (introducing foods, etc.).... After doing the Intro for 2-5 days, Do I just pick a fruit or vegetable on the " legal " list, (peel, de-seed, and cook it) and then introduce it with just a bite? Then, after waiting 2-3 days for any reactions, take a bigger bite? And then another, etc., until I can eat the whole thing? And then AFTER that, pick another fruit/vegetable? One reason I'm confused is because Elaine talks about how 3 weeks or something you can begin doing nut flours. And then after about 3 months, beans. But how does that work if it takes so long to introduce each food, so little at a time, waiting to see what happens? I guess I'm just confused about the timelines and stuff. Not sure. If you are waiting for each food to not have a reaction, and that happens around 3 months, then why do it for 1-2 years, BEFORE having your 1 year of symptom free eating before introducing illegal foods? (Do you see why I'm confused???...) Anyways, my family and I are REALLY ready to start the diet --- we've scoured pecanbread, read the book a couple of times, and have been digging into the forums --- but once we get past the intro diet, I'm lost, and not really sure what we CAN or CANNOT eat, or WHEN, or HOW to introduce everything. Again, we'll be doing the candida diet and the ASD diet " options " , so that probably makes a difference than just the " regular " SCDiet. I know the Candida mentions no fruit or honey until like 1 month of doing the SCD, and then the ASD says no yogurt until later as well. Which also sort of confuses me because I understand the casein, but I also see how the yogurt would help out our systems SOOO much as well. We don't have a " serious " ASD - we're on the low end. Son has SPD, and I have bipolar (which technically is not considered an ASD by docs, but if you know anything about both of them, they're so close it's ridiculous -- at least my version of bipolar any way). So since we don't have " full blown Autism " could we go ahead and do the yogurt? Or just wait? I do know I'm very sensitive to dairy as far as my bowels and digestive system are concerned, but I've never done fresh goats milk with tons of probiotics in it either in yogurt form, so I'm wondering if that may actually help rather than hinder. Anyways, any help, advice, and experience is GREATLY appreciated! We're so ready, but I feel too " stuck " to move forward and begin! Thanks Carissa
