Guest guest
Well I am down to one week before my first of two surgeries!! <Yikes> I will be having a SARPE on 7 Sep. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I would like to kind of keep a log of events to hopefully help everyone else that is getting this done in the future. The surgeon stated that this is less painful than getting my wisdom teeth out. I don't see how, but I am taking his word for it. Has anybody else gone through this one that could give me some insight? Thanks and this board is really awesome!
Guest guest
.. What exactly is a SARPE? I don't think I've ever heard of it before.. Guest guest
Ash: I am not sure the medical term for it, but it is a Surigically Assisted Rapid Pallet Expansion. Essentially widening my pallet. They will have to go in and cut the pallet free and split it down the middle. Yeah ... and this is suppose to be less painful than wisdom teeth getting pulled. Some people on this site have said that it isn't that painful, but as we all know, each of us is different. By the way ... how is the pain? I hope it is going away to some degree. > > Well I am down to one week before my first of two surgeries!! > <Yikes> > > I will be having a SARPE on 7 Sep. Guest guest
Ohh now I see. Well, I certainly wish you the best of luck with that! Other than the ear pain, I can honestly say that having my wisdom teeth removed was far more painful than my jaw surgery. Speaking of that, the ear pain has decreased. I am still going to mention what you said to my OS at my appt. on Friday. Keep us updated on how your surgery goes!
