Guest guest
I was -- and am -- profoundly grateful that my ortho put the whole shebang in at once, when I started out. To me, the feeling of the brackets without the wires installed was most unpleasant, second only to the splint post-op. Of course, the other side of that is that you can still floss easily. And I didn't have to have spacers, as they did the slenderizing thing on me to accommodate the bands. (I got some spacers later on, though, when they'd removed my back bands to use brackets only. Then, with the heavier wires, the brackets wouldn't stay on, so THEN i had the spacers. At least I was accustomed to sore teeth, by then. But I'd wager you'll feel better, actually, sore or not, with the archwires in place. Cammie > Hello there, Braces-Buddy!! So, how are things? Guest guest
-Hi Cammie - Today was a better day, for the top brackets at least. The ones on the bottom are still irritating the inside of my cheek and lip though, especially the ones on my lower central incisors and the ones on my cuspids (teeth near my lateral incisors?). The ones on my central incisors are on crowns, and I tasted some blood this morning. Everything felt better after I ate lunch (I had chicken enchiladas and refried beans - yum!), but towards late afternoon the lower ones started to act up again. But, I feel so-o much better than I felt on Tuesday. The reasons my OD didn't want to put everything on all at once is because he was concerned about keeping my mouth open for too long due to the jaw joint issues I have, and also because he wanted me to get used to the sensation of having something on my teeth. I'm very happy with my OD and his decision. He says that I will feel better once the wires and ligatures/o-rings are in, so we'll see. I will take Naproxen routinely whenever I go to the OD - it really helped on Tuesday to have a painkiller on-board prior to my appointment. Next Tuesday is " spacer day " and the following Tuesday the spacers come out and the bands, wires, & ligatures/o-rings get put in. I'm excited to finally get this process started and begin to see my teeth move! I have an appointment with my OMS on Wednesday - it's another question & answer session, and I have lots of questions and concerns for him to address. I'm almost certain I will let him do the LeFort on me, as well as the BSSO, but he needs to answer those questions first before I will give him the go-ahead. Thank you, Cammie, for your continued support, as I begin my Orthognathic Journey! ~~~~ Diane-- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , ceast36532 <no_reply@y...> wrote: > I was -- and am -- profoundly grateful that my ortho put the whole > shebang in at once, when I started out.
