Banding at 13 months, what results should we expect?

Tyler had his eval at CT just before his 1st bday. By the time he gets his DOC

Band he will be 13 months. His Cranial Vault Asymmetry is 14. The tech said

the best we can hope for there is a 7, and she felt even that was being

" generous. " She said he'll get a little bit of correction everywhere. They're

expecting him to be banded for 6 months (2 bands likely)

Was just curious what other people's results were who banded late in the game.

Did you see results? Was the band worth it in the end?

Eager to hear what you have to say. Thanks!

My son is going to be finishing his banding at 12 months in a few weeks, so I'm

not in quite the same situation. There are some others on the board with older

babies.

Your son's results will depend on how much his head grows during the next six

months, so nobody can say for sure how much improvement he'll have. Having said

that, I think you can expect noticeable improvement, but also expect to still

see some asymmetry when his treatment is done. I think if you are realistic in

expecting that his results won't be " perfect, " and you focus on what improvement

you do see during the process, you'll be very happy with your decision to band

Tyler.

As I said before, my son's a little younger. He's 3/4 done with his treatment. I

would say that I can notice his asymmetry still, but it is much less noticeable

than before. I think when he gets older and sees before and after pictures,

he'll be glad I got him a band. Good luck with treatment!

Hi,

My son was in the band during this age period, 13 to 19 months. We got

noticeable improvement, and it was definitely worth wearing the band at

this age. My son's plagio was not completely resolved during this

period. It was partially resolved. Although we wore the band a very

long time, we are ending up with good results given 's age at

banding, which was 12 months. I still see asymmetry, but many people

do not. Based upon our experience and what I've read, I agree that

cutting the measurement from 14 to 7 is a generous, but not an

impossible goal.

Best,

Kathy
