I did allow myself to start buying some of the low-carb ice creams and found that I was getting just as obsessive with eating them as I did with regular ice cream pre-WLS (like the entire package at one sitting!). My best bet is not to even bring it home! And having found through that experience that I still have compulsive eating habits, I'm all the more grateful that I never got back into eating sweets after WLS. I'm sure it would have made the struggle to control my weight that much more difficult. I only wish I'd never starting with the carbs again. Guest guest
I could not agree more. Just as fatophobia fattened up an entire nation, carbophobia will do the same thing. Low carb? Gimme 6! Except for milk & sugar, I'm still a fan of real food, and yes, even refined carbs in moderation. Example, 3 saltines with soup, every now & then is ok. Saltines daily is a bad thing, IMHO. THAT's low carb. If I can buy it in a box, it's a potential time bomb. It's nice to see all the sugar free stuff, of course. Thank goodness most of it tastes good enough to do the job, but not good enough to go back for 2nds. LOL But then, I think I always have marched to a different drummer. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
