Guest guest
Hi , I don't think that grafting the bone from one side of your jaw to the other side will cause you any more pain than the surgery itself as they will be operating on that side any way. I had a bone graft taken from my hip and didn't expect it to hurt so much and I wasn't prepared to what I woke up to! I was told that I wasn't allowed to move out of bed for a day or two! And that I would need extensive physio to help walk again. I started off with a zimmer frame and then crutches for the next 7 weeks! I know some people who have had a bone graft from their hip and have not needed crutches etc but my surgeon did say that they took a little too much bone which made things worse. They were going to take the graft from my skull as they were opening there anyway but they needed too much bone. That way they would have prevented the sore hip and one less scar. --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
