Guest guest
My mystery left side pain turned out to be an internal hernia. There was some concern initially about kidney stones then ulcer and it turned out to be a mechanical issue just like I suspected. Of course unless they did tests right when I was having the pain they never saw it so the local MDs were in denial that it was anything but " transient " pain caused by the RNY. Even said to me oh we get a lot of people in here that had gastric bypass with that sort of pain. I *should* have just gone the three hours to the hospital the surgeon works out of instead of dealing with the *locals*. It turns out right at the Y juncture my intestines were flipping into a herniated area and were cutting off the ability of the bypassed stomach to drain so it was filling with acid and distending (shudder to think what could have happened). Thank goodness this last time (you cannot believe the pain, well maybe you can) they shipped me off to the surgeon and he fixed it yesterday. Via a lap no less, three tiny incisions, 1/2 hour later and the hernia is reparied. Please don't lecture me as to why I didn't go there to begin with, we have a little one and no one to watch her so I was stupidly trying to help out my dh by going to a local hospital. *I will never do that again* Anyhow thanks for all the support when I had posted before. I just thought I would let you all know I am back on the road to recovery. Sherrie
