Guest guest
Hi guys, Had surgery on the 4th of August to advance my lower jaw. Last night I woke up at 2am with a sharp pain in my chin. It felt like I was being bitten by a spider. I was mostly asleep when I did it but tried to kill the spider (which didn't exist as it was just nerves connecting) and basically punched myself in my chin. Quite hard to. There was no pain or anything but I went straight to a mirror and I am not sure if I have damaged anything. I can move my jaw a little backwards from its normal position when held by the elastics which I had never tried to do before. When I wake up now my upper teeth seem maybe a milimetre further forward (or the chin is under). To be honest I really don't know If the jaw can be damaged in this way which is why I am asking...The whole thing made for a pretty shocking night. I am seeing the surgeon tomorrow anyway. So the question is...Can you damage your jaw 10 days after surgery by punching it? Also should your lower jaw have some backwards/forwards movement to it at all when you want it to? Should your teeth/jaw be in a very slightly different position when you wake up in the morning to when you went to sleep?
