YIPPEE...My OD says I'm ready for surgery!! He wants six weeks for

the torquing (sp?) wires to do their thing and then I'm good to go!!

I had this wire put on the bottom today and go back 9/23 to have one

put on the top.

My pre-op is 10/26. Surgery is 11/17. Because they're still not sure

if I need upper surgery, Dr. West (OS) wanted to have the three

weeks before surgery to study my models.

I'm excited but nervous! I'll have to travel four hours one-way for

my surgery. If I have lower jaw only, I can leave for home the next

day. If I have upper and lower, I have to stay in Seattle for a

week. My OS says with upper surgery there is a slight chance of a

sinus hemmorage and thus wants his patients close by. My post-op

appointment is 11/23, the day before Thanksgiving! I return in six

weeks to get my splint out and get stretching exercises.

I'll be tightly banded and on a liquid diet for the first 24 hours.

After that I am on a soft food diet.

I'm torn about the surgical wires/posts. If I have them in for my

pre-op appointment, they'll be able to help me practice putting them

on and taking them off. But, I've heard they can be really

uncomfortable. The OS thought I would have 13-14 hooks...egads! But,

it sounds like I already have a few of the hooks in and didn't know

it! Here's hoping I don't notice the rest!

If I have any November surgery buddies, please let me know.

Diane from Idaho, you asked me to post an updated picture and I

haven't yet. I'll try to do it soon.

Diane, Oregon
