So, yesterday, I scrambled to buy a nebulizer & get my local ped. to call in some meds before we saw Dr. H. Once Dr. H saw him, she admitted him directly to the hospital. Turns out he has the flu, and it is having an extreme effect on his lungs. He is on oxygen, and I have no idea howlong we will be here at Mt. Sinai. I have been so stressed trying to take care of our travel accommodations. I had to check out of the hotel early, and I don't know whether I will get a refund for the unused night (it was a prepaid reservation). It was real fun getting all my luggage to the hospital by myself in the pouring rain, and then getting lost in the hospital coming back in, because the main entrance is under construction, and I had to go through the basement. We were supposed to fly home tommorow, and now I'll have to change our flight plans too. Meanwhile, I didn't bring enough clothes, meds, formula, or other stuff with me, and the hospital is having a hard time getting 's GH, Aromasin, & formula. Ugh! Now enough venting..... On the positive side, Dr. H was wonderful in staying with us & getting directly admitted to the hospital so we didn't have to go through the ER. She took down to radiology herself, and stood there until the did they chest X-ray. Then, she brought him directly to the peds floor. We met another RSS family while we were here, which was also nice. Chrissy, thanks to you, I knew there was a way to get online here! We are in room 428 now. The number to our room is if anyone feels like chatting. Hope everyone else is doing better than us right now! Kim C. Guest guest
Kim! Yikes! I'm so sorry to hear has been admitted - fortunately you will have the care you need while you are there. That must have been a little scary, tiring and stressful to say the least. I know it was very difficult for us in that it had been our first time to New York and we were so uncomfortable in our surroundings. I hope you will feel more comfortable than we did and that you will take advantage of a Starbucks (offered near the cafeteria) occassionally while you are there. That was the only time I felt " normal " . Please keep everyone posted. I will be in touch with several here and I'll be checking in with them to see how is doing. Please take care. Lot's of hugs. - H > > I am starting to feel like I an relate to evryone dealing with > hospitals. & I came to NY to see Dr. Harbison, and he got > sick while he was here with significant breathing problems.
