Guest guest
Fran - thanks for all the encouraging words. My ortho said that he has heard of the ear issue before and (unfortunately) doesn't have a clear cut reason or solution. Sometime folks end up going to an ENT and maybe get tubes to drain fluid. It seems to be one of those medical mysteries. As for powerchains- they are a strip of connected o-rings that run across your teeth that hook onto the brackets over the arch wire. They replace the little rings that go on each individual bracket to hold the archwire. I had (hee hee) a overbite with my front teeth also at an angle pushing out. With 2 teeth removed - the powerchain on the top pulled in the front teeth and also moved the front 4 teeth into the gaps from the pulled teeth. An added bonus was I ended up having a simpler version of the Leforte - only repositioning the jaw not widening it as well. I've only had the braces for 16 months - which is relatively short for around here. I remember thinking when I got them on that if they weren't glued to my teeth I would have ripped them off and pitched them far far away! Thanks again for the nice thoughts! It is funny how when you are prebraces, the posts about getting your braces off are not NEARLY as great sounding!! lol I got my braces on about a month ago, and now the thought of getting the braces off for good is just about the sweetest music I can hear!! lol I am really happy you are nearing that point. I haven't heard of the powerchain. What is that? It sounds huge, but maybe I am wrong about that. What did your ortho say about the ringing? Did he have any ideas about that? I am hoping this diminishes for you soon. It sounds like you are otherwise right on schedule. That is great. Let us know when you can bite into soft foods too. That is just a long sighted dream for me right now, and I love hearing it! haha Hugs, Fran > Hi all! > Went to my first ortho visit on thursday since I had my surgery on > Aug 15th (Leforte & BSSO).
