Guest guest
As long as Ian's formula is in a feeding bag that is not continually opened, you can go for 10 hours. is on continuous feeds for 8 hours during the day & 8 hours at night. We fill his bag up all at once for each of these feeding sessions. There are times when he has had a flow error that made his feeding last for a few hours more that typical, and he has been fine. We live in FL, so temperatures get pretty hot here. If you are really worried, you can add ice to the feeding bag. You can also purchase formula in a closed container system, and this can stay in there for up to 24 hours, believe it or not. What kind of feeding pump do you have? There are spike sets you can purchase for some pumps for these closed container systems. I found this which may be of interest to you: From this website: http://tristatehealthsystem.client.web- health.com/web-health/topics/GeneralHealth/generalhealthsub/ generalhealth/nutrition & food/enteral_nutrition.html How long before it spoils? Once prepared, refrigerated formula will last up to a couple of days. At room temperature, it will go bad in at most a half a day. Good luck, Kim C.
