Guest guest
Hi Jody, Dasia's Dr. said that if the meds didn't control the reflux, he'd do an emptying study, that it would also show how much she is refluxing. I guess this would determine if she needs a 2nd surgery. Did Liam have this test? I forgot to ask the Dr. what the test involves?? Anyone know? Also, since we switched from Nutren to Peptamen her stools have been soft, so no more worries there. Jody & Damian wrote: Hi remeber with reflux medication, all it does is neutralize the acid in the stomach, it does not stop whats in the stomach coming up into the throat. Although you may have stopped the acid burning Dasia, it will still be coming up. This may be the cause of her deep breaths and swallowing. Liam does exactly the same thing, he is on prilosec and zantac. We have worked very hard to get his rate of feed to a point where he does not show these symptoms eg his pump can only go at 55mls overnight and he can only have 150mls in an hour 3 x a day during the day, if we try more he doesnt tolerate it. The surgery Dasia had was that for a gtube because the gtube can often exaserbate reflux. Also how are her bowels, if Liam is constipated his reflux is worse everything is slower stomach doesnt empty, more reflux. Hope all this helps Jody(mum to Liam RSS 4 12kg 91cm gtube losec zantac ght movicol) > > Hi Everyone. Sorry it's been so long.
