Weird feeling in lower abdomen...what is it???

Over the last several months I occassionally get this feeling in my

low abdomen. It's not restricted to a certain side. Mainly only

happens on the right but last night for the first time happened on

the left. Okay usually it happens when I'm straining to do

something (like pushing the riding mower when it broke down, bad I

know) or if my stomach muscles are tightened for whatever reason it

feels like someone reaches in there and twists my guts around and

it's painful. Kinda like a chariehorse cramp that's real tight and

you have to wait for it to release and go away. That's the best I

can explain it. I don't know if I have any hernia's that was my

first thought. They aren't visible to my eye if I do. Sometimes I

think I may feel a tiny one but I'm not sure. I do have an appt. to

see the Doc on Friday but was just wondering if anyone else has

experienced this and what it could be if you have any ideas. Thanks
