Guest guest
Cara, I think that certainly sounds like a reasonable conclusion. I personally am a big fan of " better safe than sorry " . With or without help from your doctors you can take steps to ensure stable blood sugar by ensuring eats every few hours. Good complex carbs and proteins together are the best. You've already seen what just sugar does! Try peanut butter and crackers or whole grain bread with cheese. A cheese stick, a few nuts, a fruit with cheese or peanut butter. It doesn't have to be a lot. I'd also ask for that glucometer, it may be really important if he gets sick. Dayna PS We've never been to an Allergist or Immunologist. Remember, Periactin is an antihistamine, which is the first treatment usually for allergies! Of course, it's not a very good one, but at least it makes our kids hungry! However, I have to be careful when Alyssa is sick not to give her cold medicine with an antihistamine! _____ From: RSS-Support [mailto:RSS-Support ] On Behalf Of cara schobert Sent: Tuesday, February 14, 2006 9:34 AM To: rss-support Subject: allargest/blood sugar hi all, i have ben following the current post about the blood sugars and sicknesses and it is almost time for jacob to go for an endo, gi, and genitic appts they all seem to end up in the same month. well here is my questions i think i get all reved up at this time you know coveing all my bases. first have any of you all taken your child to an allargest/immunologest. it was some thing that the genitic talke about last time we went because jacob always seem stuffy and coughs most of the year, i feel like i need to see if he is on the right meds for this or am i just medicating for something that now needed any suggestion would help ok the other thing we were going over bs alot lately and i am thinking i would like to get the doc on board with the thought that jacob may need a monitor for bs but i don't think my endo thinks this is a problem for him. but for example yesterday when i picked him up from school he was so tired and craby well we got home and my hubbie had brought home some cupcakes from a staff party at work so jacob eat one and his mood changed and he was better and then we were working the v-day cards for today to give at school and i was with my three kids doing them so i have a 3 year old had to " help " him and a five year old she can write them but i have to spell them out so i think jacob is fine to do it all he is 9 so we are all working and i glance over he has done about 5 and he has closed them backwards so the name are on the inside so as nice as i can i tell him they need to be turned around and he just has a HUGE meltdown , crying the whole shabang i had to really settle him down get him to walk away and all he did not come back to fix them for like 20 mins after i thought this was strange i mean he can get upset but this was reaaly bad so here is what i thought happpened i think his bs were low he ate cupcake, sugar spike and fall what is your opp. cara mom to jacob 9 --------------------------------- Brings words and photos together (easily) with PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Cara, Your sounds a lot like my Amelia. She will be just fine one second and then meltdown the next. I just chalked it up to being three (which I'm sure it partly is) but lately it has started to worry me because it seems so abnormal. ANYTHING will set her off even suggesting she use the bathroom. Dr. H has told us to keep a close eye on our kids blood sugars and has told me to have our local endo prescribe us a monitor. > > hi all, > i have ben following the current post about the blood sugars and sicknesses and it is almost time for jacob to go for an endo, gi, and genitic appts they all seem to end up in the same month. well here is my questions i think i get all reved up at this time you know coveing all my bases. > > first have any of you all taken your child to an allargest/immunologest. it was some thing that the genitic talke about last time we went because jacob always seem stuffy and coughs most of the year, i feel like i need to see if he is on the right meds for this or am i just medicating for something that now needed any suggestion would help > > ok the other thing we were going over bs alot lately and i am thinking i would like to get the doc on board with the thought that jacob may need a monitor for bs but i don't think my endo thinks this is a problem for him. but for example yesterday when i picked him up from school he was so tired and craby well we got home and my hubbie had brought home some cupcakes from a staff party at work so jacob eat one and his mood changed and he was better and then we were working the v-day cards for today to give at school and i was with my three kids doing them so i have a 3 year old had to " help " him and a five year old she can write them but i have to spell them out so i think jacob is fine to do it all he is 9 so we are all working and i glance over he has done about 5 and he has closed them backwards so the name are on the inside so as nice as i can i tell him they need to be turned around and he just has a HUGE meltdown, crying the whole shabang i had to really settle him down > get him to walk away and all he did not come back to fix them for like 20 mins after i thought this was strange i mean he can get upset but this was reaaly bad so here is what i thought happpened i think his bs were low he ate cupcake, sugar spike and fall > what is your opp. > cara mom to jacob 9 > > > --------------------------------- > Brings words and photos together (easily) with > PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo!
