Guest guest
Prior to surgery, I suffered from a class 3 open bite, and lip incompetence -- i.e. in a 'resting' state, my lower jaw simply hung open...not by much...maybe a centimeter or so...I could of course 'hold' it closed, but when i did that, it always looked a little bit like I was clenching my lower chin/jaw (which I was!) Anyway, that was one of the things my upper LeFort and lower surgeries (Aug. 1) were supposed to fix. While my lip incompetence is a little better, I still have to 'force' my lower lip to come up to meet my upper lip. Just wanted to know from other people who may have had this condition: how soon (if at all) post-op should I expect my lips to meet comfortably without having to strain? I'm still just a little swollen...maybe 5% remains...and I keep thinking that maybe the fact that I have my braces still has something to do with it, because they 'push' your lips out/apart a little bit...any feedback???
