Guest guest
Hi Samara, I just put my down payment on my braces yesterday! My insurance does not cover OD for people 10 and over, so that part is out of pocket for me. My OD does accept interest free payments with a sizable down payment. My braces will total $5900, and that includes all braces, preop work, post op braces and followup and two year followup and retainers post removal of braces. A pretty good deal I think. I put $2000 down, and was going to pay the entire thing, but when it is interest free for 18 months, I will just make the payments. It comes to $219 per month for the next 18 months. I can't answer how long they will be in, but the OS estimates that in my case it will be about 2 years before surgery. The time pre op really varies among the members here, and some have not even needed braces before surgery. So that will depend on your OD consults. I would suggest going to a few (I went to three) OD consults to get a good idea of the general frame of treatment. In my area, the OD consults are free of charge. Please share what you find out if you don't mind. Hugs, Fran > Would you all mind telling me how much you spent on your braces? How > long you had to wear them? If you got metal or ceramic braces? Guest guest
I'm in Manhattan and my braces (with everything included) cost $7,600 with a $2,000 downpayment. I was initially disappointed at how high that seemed (most of my adult friends also expressed surprise), but I'm convinced I have the best orthodontist in the city, if not the state. He's that good. So I guess I could have gone elsewhere and saved $500 or something, but this guy gives me so much peace of mind, it was never even an option. Guest guest
Wow! That is a lot. But you're also in NYC, where the price of almost everything is inflated. I live in DC, so I'm afraid I might encounter the same thing. Do you have the ceramic or metal braces? traderdan66 wrote: I'm in Manhattan and my braces (with everything included) cost $7,600 with a $2,000 downpayment. Guest guest
Samara - I live in Boise, Idaho and just got my braces installed last week. I have ceramic brackets; my OD charges the same for metal and ceramic, and since I'm not a teenager (I'm 47), I opted for the colorless ceramic. My total ortho fee is $5080. My insurance will pay for $1K. My downpayment was $1676.40, which leaves me with a balance of $2403.60, which will be paid in 20 monthly installments of $120.18 - this is a payment plan thru my OD that charges no interest. The fee includes: upper and lower braces, all office visits (including any unscheduled visits to fix problems), upper and lower retainers with two years retention care; also I will need pre-op and post-op care (installing and removing the surgical wires and hooks, etc.) which I'm sure are also included. I will be in braces ten months pre-op and up to another six months post-op.// Depending on where in D.C. you live, you might look into OD's in the nearby states of land, Virginia, and West Virginia - just a thought. If you already have an OS, he/she might be able to refer you to an OD that they work well with; it's very important that your OD and your OS work together on your case (mine do). Hope this helps. ~~~ Diane > Would you all mind telling me how much you spent on your braces? How > long you had to wear them? If you got metal or ceramic braces? Guest guest
Hello, Fran - Looks like you are going thru with all this Orthognathic Surgery stuff too, huh? When do you get your braces " installed " ? I just got mine put on (bands and wires) last Tuesday. My teeth are already starting to move; the gap between my upper two front teeth is closing, and a few of the lower teeth seem to be moving slightly. I feel like a cheerleader: Go, Teeth, Go!! Last week my teeth really hurt, but now the pain is subsiding a bit. Eating and biting into food is a challenge, but I'm coping. Let me know how you're doing, okay? ~~ Signed, your Boise-Braces-Buddy AKA Diane > > Would you all mind telling me how much you spent on your braces? > How > > long you had to wear them? Guest guest
I live in metro ATL and my braces cost around $5500. My insurance covered about $1500, luckily they do cover for adults. I have the clear braces, paid a little extra for that upgrade, but it was worth it for me. I am scheduled for a total of 2.5 years in braces. > Would you all mind telling me how much you spent on your braces? How > long you had to wear them? If you got metal or ceramic braces?
