What reason did they give for denying coverage? The reason will help us give you

better advice. Did you include a letter of medical necessity from the doctor? If

not, add it to your next appeal letter. Also, check out the laws that govern

your insurance plan. Are there any laws requiring United to cover birth defects,

deformity, etc? Continue following the appeals process. There's still a chance

they will change their mind. Hang in there!

immediately and they requested more information. After I sent them a 13 page

letter that I wrote citing various medical studies and court cases, they

responded saying that it was not covered. It seemed like they hadn't even read

my letter at all, judging by their response. Our clinician agreed. I don't

know where to go from here. I know for a fact that UHC has covered this

treatment before.
