Guest guest
Hi all, Today I went back to my OMS to have my splint removed. I am just shy of 4 weeks post-op (Lefort I/BSSO). It feels great! This is the first time I can really get the total feel of my new bite. When they had it out and laying on the counter, I couldn't get over how small it looked compared to how big it felt in my mouth. I still need to keep wearing 2 rubber bands for a while longer but at least I can speak clearly now. After seeing my oral surgeon, I had an appointment with my OD. They just had a look and didn't do any adjustments but thought everything looked great. I go back there in 4 weeks for the first post-op adjustments. That seems a little longer than I had expected but I guess it is a good thing since they want to allow plenty time for the bone to heal before moving teeth again. What have others experienced regarding the first trip back to the OD? Is it more painful than usual? Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi , Congrats on getting your splint out! It kinda freaked me out when mine came out, but I got over that one pretty fast. My first ortho appt after surgery was 6 weeks post op, 2 days after my splint came out. It was not bad at all, I actually had an easier time than a normal appt. However I hadn't been banded or wired at ALL and can open about 2 fingers wide. Plus I had no feeling in my upper gums due to my surgery. Guest guest
Hi , Congrats on the removal of the splint! I am pre op, but from all the comments on the board about splints, I am already hating mine!! lol I know I would definately be happier once able to speak more clearly too. Difficulties with breathing and speaking are my two biggest concerns. I am glad you are past those obstacles. Hugs, Fran > Hi all, > Today I went back to my OMS to have my splint removed.
