Guest guest
Well the second abdominplasty is over! No more surgeries for me! After having 3 PS in one year, I don't want anymore for a very long, long time...if ever. I am doing well, though. I requested to see my surgeon before I was put under since I hadn't seen her in a couple of months to get the last minute details. I was all laid out on the operating table with IV's when she came in. I had already gotten the first relaxing shot. She told me that she decided not to do the anchor incision after all. She felt sure that she could get it all going only hip to hip. At that point she began to draw on me. I was disappointed but kinda beyond standing up and arguing with her. Out I went only seconds later. She told me before hand that it would be same day surgery. My hubby was more concerned about that than I was...lol. He didn't want to be responsible the first day. In recovery, the surgeon said that she was keeping me overnight so that I could get pain meds. Okay....I could care less. The next morning my surgeon came to check on me. Well, I was draining too much fluid to go home yet. The hospital policy is not to let patients go home with drains. Mind you, I had only been in private hospitals here in Denmark before this adventure. This was a public hospital. They majority of the patients where I was were there for reconstructive cancer surgeries and cancer removal. I really didn't feel that if I complained that I would be listened to with my reason for being there. Boy were the nurses strict! So, I sat there and said okay, I'll stay one more day. My kids were sure not happy. The next morning (argggg...5:30am), the nurses came in waking everyone up. They told me that I could not go home again. I said that I was too! The doctor assured me the day before. I called my DH and told him to get down there. I needed back-up...lol. By 11:30 we finally got someone to get the doctor on shift to come in. I was packed and except for being dressed, was ready to go. She could see I was ready. It was against hospital policy to leave with drains in but I could go if I came back everyday until it the last one came out. This was Thursday. See one woman in my room (there were 4 including myself) had been there 13 days waiting for her drains to come out. Anyway, the next day I went back to the clinic in the hospital and in fact my drain was removed. This was the first time I had seen my tummy. It actually looked pretty good. The first time around, I was not impressed from the beginning. With my breast, I was in awe from day one. She only removed another 500 grams. The first time 900 grams were taken. It really is not much but looks flatter. My belly button had to be remade and the skin from the old is only right below the new one. It kinda freaks me out...looks like I have 2 BB's. Hope it evens out. I am very happy with what she pulled up from the bottom of the incision. This was my main reason for the redo. It still hung in my lap. I think everything is gonna be just great. My stitches come out in another week. I'm 1 week PO. I do have a pocket around my left hip that might needed fluid removal. No muscle work needed to be redone. I had way too much scarring from before and that was all removed. Looks great this time. And most importantly, no fever this time. The last 2 surgeries, I had a fever and necrosis last time. Absolutely, no signs of problems this time. Mind you my vitamin levels were back up this time. They don't check here. I knew. Sorry to be so very long but wanted to post my results.
