Guest guest
Hey all. Just wanted to update everyone on my progress. I'm almost 7 wks post-op, (feels like a life time ago now). I can open 3 fingers wide and eat just about anything. No steak or anything that hard to chew. But cheeseburgers are easy. Still total numb on bottorm, but top is not numb anymore. Still swollen. Not really bad. I would say 80% is gone. I can really tell I'm swollen. I look weird still. Like when you just get out of the dentist chair and your all numb and your bottom lip looks weird. Plus my cheeks are still puffy. I don't even bother wearing much make-up, because I think what's the point right now. I am only in one band on the left side to get my back teeth on that side to come togeter. The rest of my bite is right on. Six more months of braces and I'll be done (I hope)!!!! This whole process has been terrible to me. No pain or anything, it just seems to never end. But, I am feeling better now and I am not depressed anymore, and finally feel like my life is mine again. I'm getting a lot of tingling on the bottome so I know it is trying to wake up. I lost 20 lbs that is staying off so far. Well, let me know if you have any questions. Guest guest
Hi Tonya, It sounds like you are recovering in textbook fashion! Glad to hear you are having the tingling in the bottom of your mouth (now, where on earth other than this board, would someone be glad for you having having tingles and itches on the bottom of your mouth!! lol! It sounds like your healing is right on track. I had an unrelated facial surgery a year ago, and the swelling for me stayed a long time. Not that the height of swelling stayed that long, but I had some very minimal residual swelling that seemed to take a very long time to recede. People who didn't know me well did not see any swelling, but close family could. At the very end, only I could see it. I guess that is the way facial surgery recovery goes. So I think you will notice it longer than anyone else would, but it will eventually go away. Thanks for a great post! I am glad all is going so well for you.
