Guest guest
Hi Cammie. I guess I have to jump in here. Pain yes I have which is getting better at day 9. I to was told you will have no pain. Bah. That was a load of sh##. I had upper and lower jaw surgery. My botomm jaw feels great I agree no pain but for the top it is a whole different story for me. I have 0 numbness which leaves me to beleive why I had pain as to alot of others who didn't. I had my wisdom teeth cut out when I was 14 and also had broken my leg and ankle and by far this was more extreme than those 2. I guess in my opinion pain depends on how numb everything is. I will be having bone removed from one side of my lower side to balance and make it more symmetrcial, then possibly he might graft it to the other side if needed. Just wondering if I should expect a lot of pain on the side he removes bone from, whether or not he grafts it to the other side? I assume it's the same general situation as if they removed it from a hip or wherever. Thanks for your advice. ~
Guest guest
Hi , I don't think grafting the bone from one side of your jaw to the other will cause you any more pain than the actual surgery. The reason why bone grafts from other parts of your body are so painful is because they pick places like wrists and hips where the bone is more accessible (not through layers of fat). So along with the jaw surgery recovery, you would have this aching hip. I had a graft from my wrist once to fix a finger and that was the most painful thing I've ever had, the jaw surgery pain didn't compare.
