I seem to recall quite a while back that you mentioned that you had

eliminated your half and half habit and had dropped quite a few pounds, thus

brining into question that idea that fats have little to no effect on an RNYer's

weight.

In my opinion, if you're maintaining your weight (as you are) and your

cholesterol is good (as it is) and if you are not unduly suffering other

gastrointestinal issues then you should ENJOY your coffee and half and half.

BUT

be prepared to give it up if/when the need arises.

I know that some believe we need to attempt to remove ourselves from

the " pleasure " of eating and find it elsewhere -- while I believe this is true

in part, I disagree in the extreme -- eating is intended by nature to be a

pleasurable activity or else our survival would be in jeopardy as many people

who

eschew eating. Just like sex, which is designed to be pleasurable in order

to insure the continuation of mankind.

So, I say, just like sex, ENJOY it unless it becomes a PROBLEM for

you!

What is a French Press, May I ask? >>

mmmm, mmm, mmm mm m ....

don't get me started; there are several versions of 'french press'. The hints

are: some eat and some get eaten. Not only that, there is more than one

verion of 'half and half.' If you have to ask, you are not yet old enough to

know.

Thanks, Beth. I *did* eliminate the h & h and dropped some 6-8 pounds or so,

but then I started back. I didn't gain the weight back because I quit

drinking alcohol which dropped some pounds, too.pure sugar, I guess. I

think the thing is that it is the last " vestiges " of feeling guilty about

every calorie one puts in one's mouth, even if it's perfectly okay to do so.

Why should I even be worrying?
