Guest guest
The H1N1 flu shot is a dead virus. It takes approx. 2 wks to build up the immunity in your system. People are fearful of " getting " the flu from the shot. Not true. If you get sick then you were probably already exposed to the virus. There are minimal side effects-mostly redness or discomfort at the injection site. It is important that immunosuppressed people be protected & it is recommended by CDC - the swine flu can certainly play havoc with the lungs. I had mine in Nov. through my PCP office. My pulmodoc didn't have the vaccine either. A suggestion would be to call your local Health Department and/or your doctors office. Locally even some our pharmacies are offering the vaccine. Make sure you are updated on your pneumonia shots too. Cheers & good health to all. Maggie
