Guest guest
I am in the same boat. Started getting UTI symptoms Saturday. I completely forgot about D-Mannose! I had heard of it the last time I had a UTI and told myself I would try that. However, I forgot and went to the doc. They gave me Bactrim and after just two pills, I was TERRIBLE! My guts are still wreaking havoc. I called the doc back and they switched me to Cipro, just took one pill so far. I am going to stop the Cipro and get D-Mannose tomorrow. What dosage does everyone do? G Crohn's SCD 4/10 > > > > Hi PJ- man that sucks! I had the same thing a few months ago and freaked out at the idea of having to take antibiotics! I took CranMax and drank tons of water, but it just didn't kick it. I emailed the list and got some reassurance- I think Gay B. emailed me this anitibiotic info. At any rate, Macrodantin is safe and what is usually used to treat UTIs. Just ask for the lowest dose possible. I didn't have any problems- I did take some extra probiotics every day and tried to eat extra yogurt. > > > > Here is a general list of antibiotics, FYI: > > > > ANTIBIOTICS > > -SAFE- > > Macrodantin (Macrobid) > > Sulfa > > Aminoglycoside > > Flagyl (metronidiazole) > > Oral and IV Vancomycin > > > > ANTIBIOTICS > > -MAY OR MAY NOT CAUSE PROBLEMS- > > Cipro > > Levoflex ( & Levaquin-high risk CDiff) > > Tequin > > Avelox > > Bactrim > > Erythromycin > > Biaxin > > Zithromax > > > > ANTIBIOTICS > > *DO NOT TAKE* > > Clindamycin (high risk CDiff) > > Keflex > > Ceftin > > Ceclor > > All cephalosporins > > Amoxicillin > > Augmentin > > > > -Joanna > > SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 20mg Prednisone > > >
