Guest guest
I still haven't gotten word on Ian's G-tube surgery. Apparently Dr. H would like to have some tests done. I'm speculating reflux and gastric emptying (well, thanks to those who suggested to me that's what he will probably need!) I'm hoping to call the GI doc this afternoon and get more information - I'll keep you posted. The hardest part about all this - and you are not going to believe this.....Ian has been eating NON-Stop lately. Literally, like a little piggy. THIS is the reason I have been going back and forth about the g-tube for over a year now. He had been complaining on and off since August about his belly hurting. When it hurt - he rarely ate. When it didn't hurt (such as now) he eats and eats. I'm going to discuss this with the GI doc today. I'm thinking he has reflux for sure - but, NOT always! I'm thinking the Periactin has helped him as well - for as little the dose we are giving him (and when we remember) it seems to help. He tends to wake up in the middle of the night hungry. I will be discussing all of this with the GI at length - and I look forward to having the tests done to rule things out. However, I'm going to suggest to the GI that we do the tests when Ian is actually complaining that his belly hurts. I'm also going to schedule a weight check toward the end of this week. As you all may or may not know - we live in Virginia now. Coming from Chicago - we were told numerous times that it doesn't really snow where we live and if it does - it's only an inch or two. Well, we got 4-5 inches last night!!! Of course, it's already melting some today - but, it was great. I was actually worried the boys wouldn't get to see snow for the holidays. Anyway, as soon as we woke up at 7:00 am - my oldest asked to go outside. We were in the snow by 8:45 this morning!! We took the sled about 1/4 mile to the neighbors and went sledding in their back yard. It was great. Then, we came home at about 10:30 am, took some pictures and came in the house and baked cookies. My dh couldn't get his car out of the driveway this morning - so, he had to take mine which means we are stuck here all day! We even have a gravel driveway. But, we are having fun. The boys look forward to playing more this afternoon. Thanks Deb for sending that cold Canadian air down here! We appreciate it! It will be 45 degrees today - looking forward to that too!
