Guest guest
Hi , I've had mine for over 2 years now, and I really only remember them being painful during the very first week as I was getting used to them. When you go for wire adjustments, your teeth will be a little sensitive, but that only lasted that day for me. I made sure to avoid crunchy foods after my visits, and just eat softer foods. Make sure you ALWAYS take advil or something like that before you go for your visits, it really helps. Also, wax will become your best friend ... when the brackets rub against the inside of your lips, you can put a little ball of wax over the sharp parts, until your mouth heals. Eventually, your inner lips toughen and you get used to the whole thing. I did find though that certain foods made my inner lips more sensitive to the brackets, even years later; they were mostly acidic foods like tomato sauce and red wine, so if you're going to indulge in acidic foods, just be prepared with extra wax. Congratulations on your speeding up the process!
