everyone differs but he might need to go down one week at a time and only drop one or two mg each week.

 

Please , is there someone who knows ,its very common right? when you taper down on prednisone steroids flares can come on.My husband had to go back up to 40mg. Boy is he doing better today.But, now we are back up to 40 again. how long could he stay on that.anybody.

Steroids suppress the immune system to keep it from attacking his gut, so when

he tapered the steroids, the immune system stepped up the attack and he flared.

Hopefully the higher dose will calm things down and he can eventually start to

taper again. Many things affect the immune system including stress, so just

because it happened this time does not mean he can't try to wean again.

Stay on SCD and let him build up his strength while feeling well and hopefully

he will be in better shape to wean next time.

Thank all of you. I have a horrible cold and I am very tired. The advice helps

so much.
