Hi Everyone,

I have been lurking for just a couple of days and decided to introduce

myself. I had a medial RNY Dec. 17, 2001. (funny how our dates are etched

in our minds) I reached goal on 11/02 and have stayed at 133 lbs. I was 136

and lost 3 with the plastic surgery, let me tell you that was the best 3 lbs

I lost! I love the weight that I am and I love the person I found buried

under my pounds.

These two years have taught me and everyone else who knows me so much about

Gloria. I have been doing individual counseling from before the surgery and

up through today. I also go to an eating disorders support group run by a

trained professional. These two tools have been a life saver. I learned that

you can make your ³monsters² skinnier but you can¹t make them disappear.

Every day I have to be aware and tame them. Some days I can tame them and

some days, well...

Thank you everyone for being so honest about your lives. Hearing others¹

struggles makes issues seem less shameful. I hope that when I share it will

help others like you have helped me.

I am a vegetarian and have a couple of good protein suggestions. Tofu goes

down good and keeps the pouch full nicely, gluten does equally well for me,

and I have found a bread that has 5 carbs and 15 grams of protein per slice.

I love to have the bread in the morning it makes me feel full and like I am

eating a ³regular² breakfast.

Hope to hear more from you all,

Gloria Hiten
