Guest guest
I am getting ready to begin the SCD and have a few question regarding some of the foods I can and can not eat. First...can I drink Almond Milk. I dont know the specific ingrediants in it, but was hoping someone might know off the top of their head if its allowable. Second...is non dairy coffee creamer allowed? This is my biggest area of concern because I always have 2 cups of coffee every morning with flavored cream. I dread leaving this part behind worse than any part of this diet. Any suggestions??????? Thanks,

Commercial Almond Milk is not legal. > Second...is non dairy coffee creamer allowed? This is my biggest area of concern because I always have 2 cups of coffee every morning with flavored cream. I dread leaving this part behind worse than any part of this diet. Any suggestions??????? This is the worst! I was/am a coffee fanatic. First off, you need to be watering down the coffee- about 50% coffee, 50% water (to make " weak " coffee). I did this for at least 6 months, as painful and disgusting as it was. If you make almond milk, you could use this as a sub for your cream? Unfortunately, a non dairy coffee creamer is not allowed. What I really found that helped me with the flavor was adding some coconut oil! I still do it everyday- there is something about it that gives it a great flavor and a bit of richness that cream used to do for me. Commercial brands are almost certainly illegal. > Second...is non dairy coffee creamer allowed? According to Breaking The Vicious Cycle, you shouldn't have it any stronger than " very weak " anyway, and caffeine is a laxative. There's no way non-dairy creamer is legal. I'd suggest reading the diet section of BTVC carefully several times. Though the basic rules are clear, there are subtleties to this diet, and tripping over one of them can really set you back. My first, second, and third pieces of advice are: whatever it is, make your own. > Thanks, > >

No commercial almond milk is legal. Second...is non dairy coffee creamer allowed? This is my biggest area of concern because I always have 2 cups of coffee every morning with flavored cream. Non-dairy coffee creamer typically contains the following: Partially Hydrogenated Soybean/Cottonseed Oil; Palm Oil, Sugar; Corn Syrup; Sodium Stearyl Lactylate, Sodium Caseinate, Mono- and Diglycerides, Dipotassium Phosphate, Carrageenan, Natural and Artificial Flavors It's about as illegal as it comes, so no, this is not allowed on SCD.
