do you roast the slivered almonds first before making them into butter? Just dump them on a cookie sheet and at what temp?thanks!

I've found the opposite to be true. When I make nut butter from roasted pecans, it turns silky soft. Raw pecans always leaves some chunky bits. Trader Joe's almond butters are like this too, the roasted is smooth, and the raw is textured.

do you roast the slivered almonds first before making them into butter? Just dump them on a cookie sheet and at what temp?If this is any help :-) I heat my oven to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C) then take my almonds (in my case raw whole almonds, I am in Australia) and spread them out (one layer thickness) onto aluminium foil on a pizza tray. After 15 minutes they are browned nicely. I then put them in my food processor. Scrape down the sides of the processor between blends and after 5 minutes or so (maybe less) you have delicious almond nut butter. If you feel the butter is a bit dry, add 1T of olive oil while processing, but I find I don't even need that. My husband loves my almond nut butter. I tried to tell him how he could make his own, but he wasn't interested. I wonder why :-)Good luckAMIBS symptoms since July 2007Post-Infection IBS diagnosed March 2009Preceded by multiple (10) courses of antibiotics and various other meds.SCD June 2010no meds IBS, Antidepressant medspre-SCD Severe Depression
