Guest guest
Hi Mike, I really understand your frustration. I have been in braces for 7 months already and my ortho told me, when we first began he told me it would take 6-10 months for the teeth to shift into position before surgery (8mm gap @ 1mm per month of movement) Monday, I went for my appt and I asked him, so Dr, that means we're looking at Dec or Jan for my surgery and he told me, possibly on the safe side, add another 2-3 more months. Although I haven't had the surgery yet, the frustration I felt... I am very very much looking forward to the procedure as now my lower jaw looks more prognathic (I had 2 primolars extracted to bring my upper overbite in). He told me he could operated on me now if I wanted but it would be more complicated, adding another 2-3 hours of surgery time (my procedure would take about 6 already) I have gummy smile, overbite, prognathic mandible, hypoplasia of the maxilla (one side). At least Mike you've finished the most difficult part of the journey. Hang in there. I read somewhere that a lot of post-orthog patients frequently suffer from depression from having to continue wearing those clunkers. I can't say I won't but I can see why. Afterall as a young single woman, I am anxious too to get out there! On the bright side, my procedure will not involve wiring the jaws down. For that, I feel happier.
