Guest guest
Hey everyone, I am now almost 4 months post op (had upper/lower/genio on May 5). I still am not eating much solid food, pretty much a soft food low chew diet and still have minimal opening. Because of the poor diet and lack of nutrition I was recently diagnosed with anemia and B12 deficiency. I had related my lethargic lazy feeling to returning to work and being active and never thought much of it. Thanks to the advice of a naturopathic doctor I went in to see my doctor and got my blood levels checked and these problems were diagnosed. It's interesting to see how they do a blood test pre-op but don't check anything after surgery. It's now been determined that the lack of iron and b12 is what is slowing down the healing process. I guess it's better late than never to know this. I had started taking liquid iron a month preop, but I guess it wasn't enough. Just a cautionary note so no one else goes through what I did, it'd be wise to go in for routine blood work a month or so post op to make sure things are replenishing normally. Maybe some day soon I'll be able to open my mouth again and bite into the food that I crave! Ughh its good to dream....... Rina
