Guest guest
Hello Everyone I wanted to share my experience with you all. I flew to St. 's to have my surgery which was done on Sept 14th. I did not find out till the day before if I was going to have upper, lower or both. Thankfully they decided to only do lower. The surgeon moved my lower jaw 11 mm forwards and straightened it out as it was slightly crooked and my midline is spot on now...he told me he gave me a reverse face lift. The surgery went excellent and I woke up in recovery feeling okay and I didn't have a splint which was great. The tube was still in my nose but I was so groggy that I didn't really notice it. The nurse took out one of my IV's from the surgery and then they took out the tube and simply told me to keep my eyes closed. I did and they pulled the tube out no sweat. I was in the hospital that Wed and Thurs and was released on Friday at 11 am. The first 24 hours I had to sleep with an oxygen mask on and had my meds by IV. After that I got meds by shots and I had to ask for my pain meds which I took orally. I can honestly say that it was not that bad. After reading the posts on here I was so freaked out but my experience was really okay. The pain was not bad...it was all taken care of by the meds and eating sucks but I had boost and liquid vitamins and of course all the meds that you are prescribed but it was really okay. I had to sleep elevated for about 12 days which I did just using pillows and I used ice for about the first week and a half and that gave me great comfort. I even slept with ice bags I used a white board rather than talking for the first day but I was able to talk coherently but it made me tired and sore under my chin. Now 3 weeks after I am eating very soft foods and still drinking stuff but I gave up the boost. I put on 6 pounds prior to the surgery cause everyone told me I would lose a TON of weight but I didn't. Ahhhh the only good thing about this surgery ha ha ha!! I have lost 8 as of this morning so far. (I think the boost prevented me from losing the TON that everyone was talking about.) Okay so this is long enough...if anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask me.... fourcritters@... Take care Tanja
Guest guest
Hi Tanja, You sound great! That is good news. I am happy for you! Great post too. It is nice to see a few weeks worth of recovery in one string to get a perspective of the relative changes. LOL about the " reverse facelift " !!! I have kind of noticed that on the board too. Bonus! lol Take it easy and will watch for your posts for updates.
