Guest guest
Hi everyone, Sorry everyone, this is sort of off topic from SCD. I have been an SCD follower for a long time. Returned to the diet two years ago with more dedication. Fell off the wagon several times, breaking the diet for months at a time. Single guy, sick of cooking haha. I deal with it and am much better at it than I ever thought I would be. Cooking problem solved for now. HOWEVER! I had a 4 day stay in the hospital two weeks back. Now talks of drugs and such. I have a stricture (bowel obstruction/blockage etc.) Even more reason for me to adhere to SCD 110%, with more dedication than ever before. I am willing to do that! Question for you all!!!! I realize we all deal with an uphill battle with our sickness (UC, CD, Celiac, etc.). Many people in this country have chronic illnesses that there are no cures for. This is a fact unfortunately for Crohn's disease. Now, I am looking into disability to see what my options are. Not because I don't want to work. Trust me, taking a huge pay cut is not a popular idea with me since I have bills coming out my ears. My question is, how many people with Crohn's can get approved for disability? Ideally I think a couple years on disability would be good for me to heal, de-stress, and work on getting healthy. Then I would return to work....in a perfect world. If anyone out there has been approved for disability for Crohn's, UC or Celiac, would you please contact me and tell me your story about how you were approved, how long it took, and how much support you received financially after approved, as well as the medical coverage you were provided during that time. Also, how did they go about evaluating if your case was severe enough to get approved. I heard 60% of people who apply for disability are denied the first time and it usualy takes three or four times applying before a person is approved. Is this true? And does a person potentially need to hire a lawyer to be more effective in getting their case file approved? Thanks to everyone who is on this list. Sorry this was not really an SCD post. -WA State 34 years old and CD since I was 17. SCD, Prednisone, Other drugs
