So many of us pass the fat in bright orange oil slicks that can stain clothing and furniture if it comes out when you pass gas and don't even realize it. Boy, would I have preferred to get rid of the fat the way that you do. Well, that happened in the first months post-op, and it is all " behind me " now, as I am 32 months post-op. >However, he did check my vitamin levels and mentioned that I should >begin a B vitamin shot as a preventative measure to insure that I >don't begin to pass too much unused vitamin Bs in the fat. Vitamin B complex is water soluble, not fat soluble. How did he connect the dots? OTOH, many RNY folk do indeed need Vitamin B12 supplementation either as sublingual doses (pills that you dissolve under your tongue) or as shots. He could have been talking about Vitamin D, also, as that is fat soluble (Vitamins A,D, E and K). >He also suggested that I begin making sure that I get enough fat >soluble vitamin supplements. Any recommendations of what I should be >taking (I kinda forgot to ask! Oops!) Well, you can order Twinlabs Allergy A & D to get those two down. Google for it on the Internet to find the cheapest price, or try Vitamin Shoppe. Or ask /Vitalady (http://www.vitalady.com) what she has to offer in that regard. Chances are that you are getting enough Vitamins E and K in your diet. Also, there is an ADEK tablet (contains Vitamins A,D, E and K) that you can get special ordered through most drug stores, although I think that COSTCO charges the least of all, if you have one handy. Or, you can get Vita4Life which has EVERYTHING under the sun for malabsorptive post-ops (including A,D, E and K and loads of calcium citrate) in it (http://www.vita4life.net). I take 12 V4L's/day. --Steve

SO glad to hear that's all it is, tho..... However, he did check my vitamin levels and mentioned that I should begin a B vitamin shot as a preventative measure to insure that I don't begin to pass too much unused vitamin Bs in the fat. He also suggested that I begin making sure that I get enough fat soluble vitamin supplements. Any recommendations of what I should be taking (I kinda forgot to ask! Oops!) *********FAT SOLUBLE?? Um, did he forget that as RNY'ers we really don't even process fat? That fat just pretty much goes from the mouth to the toilet? Ok, anyway, you'll need to procure the DRY forms of A,D,E.... These are fat soluble for normies, and in the dry form, we can actually absorb these... YEAH!! I get mine from Vitalady... I have been taking these pretty much since the beginning of my journey post-op, and my skin is doing quite well (thank you!), not to mention that my labs are usually fantastic!! Thanks!
