Guest guest
Yay me... i am on day 50 of SCD! Hi there all SCD gurus, specifically those who are the experts on probiotics! I have been taking a probiotic for about 4 weeks now, and have not made yogurt or bought SCD legal yogurt yet. I did make kefir and had that initially, then I read and heard that I started that too quickly, and it's too intense in the initial weeks, whoops! I have been taking Inner Health Dairy Free powder (I live in Australia BTW). Upon research today into probiotics while on SCD, it appears we should start at about 3billion bacteria/day initially, and gradually increase this amount to ~9billion/day. Though, if not on goats yogurt this can be increased to 10 billion x 3 each day. (this is off pecanbread.com). It seems I am actually on the recommended dose on the jar (which i know is not always correct for an individual, but that's just how I started!!) which is 15billion / day (split in half am & pm). Is this too much?? I don't think I have been reacting to it, but then again, perhaps I have! My bowel motions are at a regular twice a day, and have been for the majority of the diet. They are not firm entirely yet, rather a bit mushy. Should I cut back and see what happens? I am really keen to start goats yogurt! Is there a particular brand (australian) you can recommend? What do I avoid (apart from the obvious sugars and sweetners and nasty additives)?? My probiotic has the following bacteria strains in it; -Lactobacillus Acidophilus (NCFM) organisms - 7.5 Billion/15Billion serving -Bifidobacterium Lactis (Bi-07) organisms - 7.5 Billion/15Billion serving -180mg Oligofructose I am praying these are all legal/ok?? What is the best mix/types of probiotics to be having?? I have noted L.Acidophilus, S.Boulardii.... anything else? With eternal gratitude, Fiona Australia SCD for 50 days and loving the journey!
