Guest guest
Last week we received a letter from our insurance company that they will only cover Norditropin for growth hormone therapy from now on. No exceptions. After 14+ years using Humatrope, it is somewhat of an adjustment for us to even consider using a new med. We will do it if we have to. I'm waiting to hear from Dr. H. (One alternative I have is using my health insurance from where I teach and see if they will cover the Humatrope. Isn't that what secondary insurance is for???) Anyway, today I received a phonecall from the home care company that a rep is going to contact me to set up an appointment to teach Max and me how to use the pen device. That's not an issue for us because we've used the Humatrope one before. HOWEVER, Max does not use the pen anymore because he could not get a dose that was exact enough from the pen. He has to mix the cartridge as if he is going to use the pen, but then he withdraws the med with a syringe. My question: How exact is the measurement with Norditropin's pen? I have no idea of what this looks like and the nurse could not answer my question. Of course, no one had asked that one before. Great.
