Guest guest
Hi , my expander went to 10 mm - 40 cranks, and the gap between my teeth was the size of one of my front teeth, so I just estimated 8 mm - it was big enough to look funny, especially since all my other teeth were so crowded. It looked like I had lost a tooth, except it was right in the middle of my teeth - little kids were the funniest with their comments! With all I've been through with my teeth I think I was (and am) most excited about my widened upper jaw - even with the gap I could see how nice it was going to be. I was pretty self conscious too, it's better when the braces are on - then at least people know you're working on it! You sound like you're doing well! I'm glad your gap isn't too wide, your teeth will probably come together quite fast! Take care, Pam > > Hey y'all! > > I'm excited. Well, kinda. Guest guest
didi you have a surgically assisted expansion? firetigeress05 <no_reply > wrote:Hey y'all! I'm excited. Well, kinda. My expander is at it's maximum (12 mm) and I went to my surgeon today and he said I'd probably have braces by early Januauy. Well I'm excited because I'm getting closer to my better teeth/smile, but not excited with what I have to go through. Well, lots of people have had this done and I know I can ask you just about anything. Pam, I don't know how big your gap was between your front teeth (well I know you said it was 8 mm), but mine isn't really that big. I guess I was expecting the gap to be a tooth-width or something, but it's not. It's almost half a tooth-width. The reason my gap really isn't that big is because my back teeth are widening more than my front teeth. I'm a little self-conscience of my smile because of the small gap, but then again I always have been, even before I had all this done. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories with me (and the rest of us). If anyone wants to know anything about having an expander, feel free to ask me! Guest guest
Hi , What great news to hear that you are done expanding! It will be a fantastic new year's gift to get the braces on and the expander out. I am 1/2 way done at 4 1/2 mm right now. I had my OS appointment today and he found that the tissue is stressed/ not totally healed in the gap by my right tooth. So now I have to slow my expansion down a little, have a few days of latency to let the tissue regenerate. I am expanding between 8 - 9mm. Since my front teeth overlaped, my gap right now is 2 1/2 mm wide. I'm totally self concious about it, but getting through it. Are you still experiencing numbness? Its 3 weeks since my surgery, but I'm slowly regaining feeling in my lip, molars and bicuspids. Hope that other than the annoyance of the expander and gap, I hope everything else is good. What awesome news! Amy > > Hey y'all! > > I'm excited. Well, kinda. My expander is at it's maximum (12 mm) > and I went to my surgeon today and he said I'd probably have braces > by early Januauy.
