Guest guest
Hi, I used to post here frequently about my son Colin who turns 5 in 2 weeks. But we moved states and life has been crazy getting established and settled in our new home. The good news is that in Idaho they have a Medicaid program for kids with chronic medical conditions that is not based on salary. So the state of Idaho pays for EVERYTHING that insurance doesn't cover. After 4-1/2 years of huge medical bills it is wonderful. We had no idea when my husband accepted his new job that this program even existed. And they also will fund travel for the convention & for visits to Dr. H if she accepts Medicaid (I have to look into that??). The bad news is that there are very limited doctor choices in Idaho. We were very spoiled in Portland, Oregon with the fantasic children's hospital. As far as I know there is only one other RSS child in town. Colin is still g-tube fed and making SLOW progress. I thought by age 5 we'd be a lot closer to getting rid of the tube. He goes to a weekly feeding therapy session that is a cooking class with another set of SGA twins. But he probably gets 60% of his calories through the tube. We have all the usual appts. coming up with the Endo, Gastroenterologist, etc. so we will see how he is growing. I hope to get back into this list again now that things have settled down. I see some familiar faces.
