Guest guest
I went to have a scope done this morning. Can we say ewwwwww. They had trouble getting an I.V. started, they got me four times before it worked. This is the worst part for me since I am needle phobic. Overall it was not as bad as I anticipated. I came home and slept the rest of the day. My Dr. said my stomach was shaped like an hour glass. ( I had a vbg) He said the upper pouch should not be the same size as the bottom. ( Duh!) My exit hole was still the size of a jelly bean but I am concerned about my pouch size. I know I have gained 70 pounds in the last year. ( Surgery was 2 1/2 yrs ago.) What are my options now? Can this be repaired? He also did a biopsy. What is this for? He said he would have results for me on Tuesday. I was a little woozy so I didn't ask much at the time. I am just concerned . Feeling a lil bummed, Yukon,OK!!!!!

Guest guest
, First, I think you may need some more information. When you say that your stomach is an hour glass does that mean that your pouch is now the same size as the rest of the stomach? Do you have a staple line disruption? Did the doctor say whether it could be fixed or not? I had the vbg as well about 2.5 years ago. I discovered that I could eat a lot more this last year or so and gained about 50 lbs. When I was scoped, it was determined that my pouch could hold 10 ounces and I had a staple line disruption. It can be repaired and the pouch made smaller. The other option was to get revised to an RNY. Your doctor is going to be the best person to give you that information. I suspect why he didn't go into a lot of detail was that you were still groggy from the meds and he would probably have to repeat himself again on Tuesday. Ask what your options are.
