Guest guest
A friend of mine recently had an abdominoplasty (she is not a wls patient) and was told by her plastic surgeon that a week prior to surgery stop all the herbal supplements and vitamin E and he also told her to stop the protein but increase her iron and gave her Senokot to take due to increased iron. I told her to up her protein before the surgery and her surgeon told her specifically to stop all unecessary protein consumption. She had her surgery before Thanksgiving and is still having, though minor, problems with healing. Her belly button is all red and her scars are still scabs. I've seen quite a few people have this surgery and after a month and a half looked great. Told her to start using more protein and take her vitamins. She is far enough away from surgery to do this and he is still telling her she doesn't need the extra protein. To each his own I guess. Personally, I found that since the wls all subsequent surgeries I've had have gone much better, I'm sure because of the weight that was gone off my body, but also consuming much protein prior to the procedures I really feel this has helped immensely. Check with your doctor about this. Regina
