Guest guest
Dalia is about to start GH any day now and for some reason the " guy " at the endo's office who handles getting it set up ordered the kind with exposed needle. We asked to have the " pen " type. He said no problem...he also said that the " pen " type has to be refrigerated and the other type doesn't. Does this make sense? Was I doing the right thing in asking for the " pen " type? I am going to call him and ask as well, but I figured some of you could answer from experience. Anything else I should ask or look out for? Thanks, Sheryl (Dalia, 2 - RSS and Hanna, 5 mos - non-RSS)
Guest guest
Quick update...I spoke with the guy and basically the choices are a " mini quick " which does not need refrigeration, it is a single dose per needle so you just throw it away after each dose...you have to plunge the needle in yourself. The other choice is the pen from Genotropin, which I guess also has an exposed needle, and has to be refrigerated b/c it is multiple doses in the pen (I know you all probably know this). They submitted this to insurance with a diagnosis of FTT/SGA and not RSS. Would she be better off with the RSS diagnosis and have more choices like Nutropen, etc? What should I do? Guest guest
Hi Sheryl, AS far as I know, all growth hormone has to be refrigerated. Pen type or regular syringe. I prefer the pen type. For me it is easier to use. I hope this helps.
