Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the Group! My story for you here. I had surgery 3 years ago now (1st august 2002) to correct a class III underbite. I had upper, lower, rpe (rapid palatal expansion) and sinus work. I was 17 at the time of surgery, now 20. I too had braces (train tracks/fixed braces) all through school from the age of 12 until i was 18. I now have a retainer to wear only on a night, to help prevent a relapse. I too had problems eating, in that i basically couldnt chew very much. Infact just before my surgery none of my teeth touched so the knife and fork became my best friend! I also found i had difficulties breathing through my nose and often felt as though i was choking if i attempted to breathe through it for long periods of time (10 mins or so). Admitidly i am still a mouth breather but i can stand to breathe through my nose for longer bursts of time. My before and after photos are on this site under katerina in the photos section adn there are some more recent ones on site two under katerina or kat _Uk i cant remember which lol. Feel free to ask any questions im sure you will find out enough information from the people on this site. Good luck with your decision making.
