Hi Katja,

I'm doing much better. I went to the OS on Friday so he could

remove the splint and reshape it before he wired it back on.

Suprisingly he told me I had healed up so well I could eat anything

I want and even play sports. I forewarned him I am a klutz, but he

wasn't to worried and said if he released boys to play football at 8

weeks postop, he was sure I could play volleyball.

I went to my ortho yesterday, and even with the splint wired on,

they were able to remove my old wire and hooks and put a new thinner

wire on. He actually looked at me and asked why the OS had put the

splint back on! Like I know? Anyways, he put bands on the one side

to move my upper molars back down on the right, and gave me great

news. Next Friday, September 30th, he will remove my splint. The

OS gave permission to have the ortho remove it when he felt my teeth

had moved enough. I am so happy! I leave for my cruise to the

Bahamas on Sunday the 1st, and I will be splint-free! I will have

had my splint on for a full 10 weeks. My ortho did disagree with my

OS for the first time (gasp!), and said he thought I should be

careful about what I eat and not overdue my muscles. I assured him

I'm not eating nuts, carrots or fritos, or anything truly crunchy

for a while and that seemed to make him happy.

Anyways, I'm glad you posted back. Talk to you soon. Happy

jellifying!

Connie
