Thanks for asking how I'm doing. All is going well. I'll be

finally getting my splint removed next week at 10 weeks postop and I

am so ecstatic. I will be leaving two days afterwards for a 4 day

cruise, for my 10 year anniversary, to the Bahamas, and I definitely

wanted my splint out before then. You get used to it pretty

quickly, although it continues to be an annoyance. The worst thing

about a splint is it affects your speech (although now it's only a

little lispy and totally understandable) and also everytime you eat

TONS of food gets caught in it, so I am self conscious about eating

out. I, of course, wanted to enjoy all of the wonderful food that a

cruise offers.

I like my Thera-bite pretty well. I was warned that I need to use

it at least 5 or 6 times a day or else my opening would get

smaller. On Friday my opening was 8mm and I could barely fit my

mouth over the mouthpiece, let alone squeeze it open. By Sunday

night my opening was up to 14mm all the time, and 18mm right after

using it. I didn't use it at all yesterday because my bite was

starting to pull to one side a tiny bit, and I was afraid using the

Therabite could aggrevate it. I got the okay from the ortho

yesterday to start using it again, measured this morning and found

my bite to be back down to 12mm. So I can definitely tell it is

working when I use it.

Hope all is well with you. Do you know when your upcoming surgery

is? Talk to you soon.

Connie
