Deb,

Vomiting is not a good thing for our kids who have blood sugar

issues. If they are vomiting, then we cannot give them the proper

nutrition to keep their blood sugars stable. You have every reason

to be concerned.

One suggestion is to keep glucose gel onhand. If True were to start

vomiting, then you could put some of the gel into his mouth between

his cheek and gum. Even if it made him gag, enough would be

absorbed into his system. But check with your doctor to make sure

this is okay for him, considering his age and allergies.

I would imagine that the doctor will be pretty careful with

suggesting which foods to try first. The least likely to upset him

would be the best to begin with. I'm sure it's scary, though.

As for diarrhea, that is not as much of a problem. Even though the

child/baby can lose a lot of hydration, you can still give him food

that will keep his blood sugars stable. You would be more likely to

be facing dehydration than hypoglycemia.

I hope this helps a bit.
