Guest guest
Okay, I just know that someone out there is an expert on adhesions and I have lots of questions. I have been having major pain below my belly-button every few months or so. I get nauseous and don't eat anything. The pain is bad enough to keep me in bed and generally lasts 24-48 hours...no fever or anything. My regular doc was stumped and sent me to a gastro guy. He was very nice, but said that the only thing he could think of was that adhesions were causing the pain. He gave me meds that will relax the area for the next time it happens and he want.s to see me when it is happening. The part that I don't like is that he said if it is adhesions, there is nothing more he can do about it. Does this sound right to you guys? Any advice and/or info would be helpful...Thanks! ===== Jennell in Florida Lap RNY 12/19/01 Then 299 lbs Now 180 Height 5'11 " PS...If this is double posted, I'm sorry. Guest guest
Basically there is not much the docs can do for adhesions. Had them very bad about 15 years ago from multiple surgeries on my right ovary. Doc said that he can perform surgery to lysis them, but they will come back and worse the next time. He did lysis the adhesions when I had my c-section and tubal ligation with Leah and when I asked him why, he said that when you're pregnant, you are so vascular that you can get away with doing the lysis of the adhesions and chances were they wouldn't come back. Never had a problem after that. Truly amazing. Now about a month ago I had a transvaginal sonogram and the doctor performing it asked me to sit up for a moment while doing it. I thought that was odd, but.... About 36 hours later I woke up in the most incredible pain that I've had in a long time. After three doctors and my second CAT scan of the week, it was noted that there was a " new hemorrhage " in the subcutaneous tissue about 2 cm below the skin. Sent me to a surgeon who said that in all likelihood that the transvaginal sonogram must have " nicked " a few adhesions and caused the bleeding and that my body will reabsorb the blood and he wants me to go for another CAT in two months. In the meantime, I've been in such pain on a daily basis from this and its been over two weeks. Yesterday was the first day that I can honestly say that I felt any kind of better, but this morning, the pain is back with a vengence. Very upset to think that I'm going to be like this for any length of time or permanently as I'm not having anymore children. : ) If you find something out, please let me know. You can try stretching the adhesions out by laying on the end of your bed on your back and gently stretching over the back of your bed and holding that position for a minute a few times a day. That used to help me years ago. Haven't tried it yet because of the internal bleeding. They don't want me doing anything physical for six to eight weeks, yet they have no problem with me undergoing breast reduction surgery on 2/11. Go figure.
