Just to give another perspective:

I wouldn't recommend heat for the swelling, as it draws fluids to

the area, and that's not what you want. I'd check with your surgeon

and see what he/she recommends. It's true that ice is not effective

after the initial injury (surgery), but it does feel good on the

face, so I used icepacks the first week and whenever I wanted to

cool down.

MLD therapy, which I had, is very effective for reducing swelling as

it opens up the lymph network, and allows the toxins & fluids to

drain naturally. You can find out more about this on the geocities

I'm not familiar with Ativan, but I take amitryptyline (Elavil) in a

low dose for a sleep disorder, it's also prescribed as a muscle

relaxant and will " unwire " you at night.

The 4 Ensures you're taking are good nutrition (I think that's

what's recommended on the can), if you can add more to that, you're

doing very well.

You can always call your surgeon at any time, day or night. He/she

can call in a prescription to a local pharmacy for you, and many

have free delivery. Don't think that you have to wait until business

hours to get help!

Hang in there, 4 days is a lot in terms of the early recovery, and

you'll start to feel a bit better day by day now.
