Anyone been wired shut for 6-8 weeks??

I am scheduled to have upper and lower jaw surgery in Jan. I was told

by my OS that I would be wired shut for 6-8 weeks. Has anyone had

this? I am reading about all of you who have splints and aren't wired

shut. Lucky! Anyway, any tips on recovery would be great.
